For the stereotypical corporate workers and studious student on holiday (holiday motivation edition)

In today’s fast-paced social media influenced, achievement-driven world, we often find ourselves chasing milestones, grades, promotions, and recognition. Success is admired, celebrated, and even expected. But in this journey of “success”, a deeper question comes to mind: is success truly worth it if it doesn’t make us happy? I strongly believe that happiness is more important than success, and here’s why.
Many people think that being successful is the most important thing in life. They want to get good grades, a high-paying job, or win awards. While success is nice to have, I believe that happiness is more important. What is the point of having everything if you don’t feel happy?
People work hard to be successful because they think it will make them happy. For example, someone may study a lot to get a good job, not just for money, but to live comfortably and feel proud. In the end, they want to feel good, and that is happiness. So really, happiness is the real goal behind success.
Also, success does not always mean someone is happy. There are countless examples of high achievers, billionaires, celebrities, executives. who appear to have it all, yet struggle with burnout, depression, and even addictions. They may have everything others want, but they are not truly enjoying life. If a person is always busy chasing more success but feels empty inside, then it isn’t worth it.
On the other hand, happy people often become successful too. When you are happy, you are more likely to be kind, work well, and have good ideas. Happiness gives you the energy and confidence to do well in school, at work, or in life. So, happiness can actually help you succeed in the long run.
Of course, we still need a basic level of success in life. We need money for food, a home, school, and healthcare. But once those needs are met, having more money or fame doesn’t always bring more happiness. Some people always want more, and they never feel satisfied.
In the end, happiness matters more than success. It’s what makes life fun, peaceful, and meaningful. Even if you don’t win awards or make lots of money, you can still live a good life if you are happy.
So instead of always chasing success, we should focus on enjoying our lives and finding joy in the little things.
Enjoy your holiday!
